Isaiah 58

¹Yahweh said to me,

²They worship me every day;

³They say, ‘We have ◄fasted/abstained from eating food► to please you,

⁴You fast, but you also quarrel and fight with each other with your fists.

⁵You act as though [IRO] you humble yourselves [RHQ] by bowing your heads

⁶No, that is not the kind of fasting that I desire.

⁷I want you to [RHQ] share your food with those who are hungry

⁸If you do those things,

⁹Then you will call out to me,

¹⁰Give food to those who are hungry,

¹¹I, Yahweh, will guide you continually,

¹²Your people will rebuild the cities that were destroyed long ago;

¹³Do not travel [MTY] long distances on Sabbath/rest days,

¹⁴I will enable you to be joyful.
