Hosea 4

¹Hear the word of the LORD,

²Cursing and lying,

³Therefore the land mourns,

⁴But let no man contend;

⁵You will stumble by day,

⁶My people are destroyed

⁷The more they multiplied,

⁸They feed on the sins 4:8 Or the sin offerings of My people

⁹And it shall be

¹⁰They will eat but not be satisfied;

¹¹Promiscuity, wine, and new wine

¹²My people consult their wooden idols,

¹³They sacrifice on the mountaintops

¹⁴I will not punish your daughters

¹⁵Though you prostitute yourself, O Israel,

¹⁶For Israel is as obstinate

¹⁷Ephraim 4:17 That is, the northern kingdom of Israel is joined to idols;

¹⁸When their liquor is gone,

¹⁹The whirlwind has wrapped them 4:19 Hebrew has wrapped her in its wings,
